We've been REALLY looking forward to the cold weather! It's almost as though fashion has been especially created for us this season - and we love it!
Colour - We're famous for it! We have so many customers who walk into our store and say "Thank goodness! Colour!" Most people are ready to break out from black (well, we still love it, but we can jazz it up a bit!) with touches of strong accent pieces - red is always a winter winner. Purple features strongly this season, in luscious deep tones; electric blue is a welcome return, and of course the strongest new colour is grey. Whether you suit deeper charcoal, or right through to the silver greys, this is a fabulous base colour, and goes with everything black does!
Tunics - Almost everyone has come in wanting to try this look, and it is so wearable on our curves! Everyone suits a different version of this fashion, so it is important to get it right for you. Tights don't suit all shapes, and sometimes a narrow leg pant looks better - we have a great selection of both. If you are shorter, sometimes a wider leg, 7/8 pant looks better; teamed with boots, this is a funky look. There are some fantastic prints around in longer tops and tunics - don't give up if you feel like a "pumpkin on stilts" - it just needs some fine-tuning to get the balance right!
Layers - Are you wearing them? It can be a bit tricky sometimes to get this right - start with the pants that suit your shape, then try a long tunic over that. We have some crop jackets and tops that look very smart as a final layer. You can achieve this look with a skirt, as well; usually a straighter skirt looks better under a longer top. We have such amazing, fine merino knitwear this year - perfect as a piece underneath to give you warmth without bulk.
Knitwear - It gets better every season! Merino is the big player these days, and some of the stripes and colours being created are simply stunning. We have everything from fine merino tops to beautiful long jackets, long-line cardigans, and hoodies. Don't get put off these (we are NEVER going to put the hoods up!) - they can give you a sharper look than a cardigan, and they are available in a variety of lengths. There are some fantastic tunics in this wonderful knit - zip details and attached scarves make them so wearable, and so fashionable.
Coats - We stock mostly hip length and shorter (this IS Nelson!) - and this year we have wool mix jackets in some amazing colours - hot pink, lime, and purple. Lightweight woollen thigh-length coats have been supremely popular; stylish and very easy to wear. We have shower-proof, hip-length jackets as well.
Pants - What a selection! This is probably the garment that varies the most on all different figures - everyone suits a different shape, and you really need to try them until you get the one that is right for you. We have narrow pants in stretch fabrics for layering, wider merino pants, pants with some wool content..... the list goes on. 7/8 pants are still a hot fashion item, terrific with boots.
Scarves - This is scarf season - they have never been a bigger fashion statement, and we have an amazing selection! Warm lambswool, merino, bamboo and silk - the colours go from muted greys and taupes to vibrant purples and reds. Scarves are such an easy way to accessorise your outfit - and to bring some colour in, if you still love black.
Accessories - Wow!!! It just gets better all the time! Big and funky, colourful and exciting - it has never been easier to make a fashion statement by just adding a necklace! Hearts are HUGE fashion news - we have big red hearts, gorgeous crystal hearts - the selection really is amazing. Multi-stranded long chains for knitwear; colourful big beads - if you can call in, you will love this season's selection.
Gloves - Leather and suede, purple, red and pewter - black with fur trims - black with red buttons - we love them, and what a bonus that they keep us so warm while looking so stunning!
Style secrets - Remember you wear your own look better than anyone else! You know that when you look good, you feel great, and life looks better. You deserve to invest in your unique style; you deserve to look as gorgeous as you really are.
